Discuss the concept of escapism as it relates to the period covered by Part IV or V of the textbook.

"A new medium tries to do what was already the preserve of an earlier one but in ways that bypass some of the problems and complexities of its predecessor." p. 119, Crowley & Heyer.  Support this assertion in terms of the development of telegraphy.
